Bio C-Vitamin is a medicinal preparation that has been approved by the Danish Medicines Agency in the category of "Strong vitamin and mineral preparations, etc." since July 20, 1995.

The preparation should not be used for children under the age of two years without the consent of a physician. It should be stored out of the reach of children.

Bio-C-Vitamin is a mono-preparation that contains 750 mg of vitamin C and 85 mg of calcium per tablet in the form of calcium ascorbate. Calcium ascorbate has been chosen as the source of vitamin C, because it is a more acid-neutral form that does not change the pH in the stomach.

More and more studies indicate that there are beneficial effects of ingesting vitamin C in doses that are considerably higher than the current recommended daily allowances [6,11,12,13]. Some of these studies are summarized below.

Exogenously supplied vitamin C is an essential micronutrient for the human organism that cannot synthesize the substance itself. The vitamin functions as a co-factor in various enzyme processes [2,3,4]. Propylhydroxylase, for example, which assists in the hydroxylation of freshly synthesized connective tissue protein (collagen), is maintained in its active form by vitamin C. If the collagen in connective tissue is not sufficiently hydroxylated due to a deficiency of vitamin C, then scurvy-like symptoms will develop. Vitamin C`s ability to prevent scurvy was discovered more than 200 years ago in 1753.

Bio-Garlic is a medicinal preparation that has been approved by the Danish Medicines Agency in the category of "Natural Remedies" since February 5, 1997.

Bio-Garlic is a natural remedy that is manufactured from dried garlic powder with the enzyme activity preserved. It is produced in a way that preserves the active substances in fresh garlic that have beneficial health effects. One tablet contains 300 mg of garlic powder, standardized with regard to the content of the amino acid allicin in such a way that each tablet contains 4.5 mg of allicin which is equivalent to 2.1 mg of allicin (given a conversion rate of 98%).

By taking one to three tablets daily, an individual can achieve the level of intake that is characteristic for a typical garlic-rich diet in southern Europe, a level that has been shown to be effective in clinical trials [1-5]. Fully 98% of the allicin in Bio-Garlic is converted in the intestine to allicin which is the most important of the active substances in garlic. The conversion of allicin is catalyzed by the enzymatic action of allicinase which is also present in garlic; for this reason, it is important that both the allicin and the allicinase are preserved in a garlic preparation.

Because of regulatory differences from country to country, the dosages in this preparation may vary in some countries.
Each tablet of Bio-Magnesium contains 200 mg of magnesium as follows: magnesium acetate (19 mg), magnesium carbonate (86 mg) and magnesium hydroxide (95 mg) which ensure a good absorbability. Magnesium acetate, despite its relatively low content, is especially valuable, because it can be absorbed by individuals who have reduced quantities of stomach acids.
Magnesium is an important mineral that is involved in more than 300 enzyme processes in the body, e.g. enzyme processes that affect the energy metabolism. Magnesium is used in all of the muscles, including the heart muscle, in the immune system`s T-cells and in the nervous system. It is also important for the liver`s and the intestines` proper functioning.


The average intake of magnesium from the diet is about 300 mg for women and 383 mg for men in Denmark, from which it can be reasoned that the lower percentiles of the population do not achieve the recommended 300 - 450 mg daily.


Low magnesium levels have been frequently confirmed in diabetics in up to 30% of all cases. Low magnesium status can also occur in connection with various diseases, intestinal disturbances and diarrhoea. Moreover, many heart patients lack adequate magnesium. Consumption of alcohol and hard, physical training increase the loss of magnesium in the urine. Magnesium is also eliminated from the body in the perspiration.


Relatively low magnesium status has been associated with a long list of conditions and symptoms ranging from diabetes [9,17], to elevated blood pressure [7,19,26], atherosclerosis NETQUOTEVAR:20, hard physical training [10,30], migraine [22,28] and osteoporosis NETQUOTEVAR:29

Bio-Pycnogenol® has been marketed as a dietary supplement in Denmark since 1998. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) in the United Kingdom (UK) has approved Pycnogenol® as a food ingredient as well as a dietary supplement, a ruling which allows the incorporation of the substance into functional foods in the UK without any restrictions.

General information

Bio-Pycnogenol® (which is pronounced Pik-nah-je-nol) is produced using an extract from the bark of the French maritime pine tree (Pinus maritima) from the Landes de Gascogne in France, an area free of pesticides and fertilizers. The extract is an organic substance.


The recommended dosage of Bio-Pycnogenol® is two tablets twice daily in the first week of usage followed by one tablet twice daily. Each tablet contains 40 mg of Pycnogenol®.

Bio-Pycnogenol® consists of a mixture of naturally-occurring, water-soluble phenolic acids, polyphenolic compounds and their glucosylated derivatives and free sugars. The most relevant ingredients belong to a class of flavonoids called proanthocyanidins that include catechins, epicatechins and taxifolins [11, s. 5-7]. The proanthocyanidins in Bio-Pycnogenol® represent a very specialized group of bio-flavonoids that are unique in their ability to form condensation reaction products, a property that contributes to the relatively high absorbability and biological activity of the proanthocyanidins [9, s. 51].


Research results have indicated that Pycnogenol® can be used as an antioxidant to protect the cells against the damaging effects of free radicals, to recycle and prolong the use of vitamins C and E, and to strengthen and improve blood circulation [2,6,10].

Pycnogenol® has been shown to be non-toxic and non-mutagenic. Suitable for vegetarians.
